(Salem-IN) – Champion Racing Association (CRA) Powered by JEGS officials announced today, that effective immediately, the rules for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars tour will allow for the Chevrolet 604 crate engines to race at 6500 rpm and receive a 25lb weight break.

Officials reviewed data on field make up in the last few years, dyno comparison, and component comparison to reach this decision.  According to CRA’s R. J. Scott, “Many people came through the ranks of racing using Chevy products and being Chevy fans, so we had to ask ourselves why we were seeing fewer and fewer Chevys in crate racing. People were choosing Fords not because they wanted to, but felt the rules configuration favored the Ford, and therefore to be competitive they had to change brands, out of necessity, not because of preference.”

Scott went on to additionally note, “We as a group are charged with the responsibility to create parity, so we’ve taken these steps to help ensure that.”

The first use of these new rules will take place when teams take to the track for the CRA SpeedFest 2020 at Watermelon Capital Speedway, January 24-25.

WINCHESTER TIRE BULLETIN 09/24/2020

For the Winchester 400 weekend, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman competitors will be required to use the Hoosier D850 for right side tires. Only the standard Hoosier D800 or Hoosier D850 may be used as left side tires.

Jack Neal at Motion Motors is the exclusive dealer for these tires and he has them in stock now. He can be reached at (765) 606-4286.

TIRE BULLETIN

Hoosier Race Tires officials announced today that they will be utilizing an additional right-side tire for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman for use at at Winchester Speedway on. The Hoosier D850 will be an option for teams to use, in addition to the existing D800 options. This is identical to the Hoosier plan utilized at the end of last year.

Hoosier responded to the requests of many drivers for a more durable option at the high-speed Winchester Speedway.  Following testing, Hoosier chose the 8.0/27.0-15 D850 to assist the drivers.  The tire is identical in construction to the D800, with only a compound change to combat the heat and wear that right-side tires experience at Winchester.  Chalk marks for the tire will be 85.75 inches, plus or minus .5 inches.

Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman teams will be required to race on the same combination of D800’s and D850’s that they qualify on.

Hoosier expects to have tires to their dealer, Jack Neal at Motion Motors, in the next week.  Tires can be ordered by calling Jack at 765-606-4286.
