Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Begin 2020 Season Saturday at Anderson Speedway

Salem, IN (June 3, 2020) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will kick off their 2020 season, with the Marcum’s Welding 75 this Saturday at Anderson Speedway, located in Anderson, IN. The COVID-19 pandemic caused several series events to be postponed or cancelled. Per guidelines set by the Governor of Indiana, Saturday’s event will have no fans, but Speed51.com will provide a pay-per-view broadcast of the event for $9.99. 

2020 will be the 14th season of competition for the series that crowned its first Champion in 2006. Past Champions include Keith Sterkowitz in 2006 and 2011, Billy Hutson in 2007, Tony Dager in 2008, Charlie Hanna in 2009 and 2010, K.C. Spillers in 2012 and was the 2017 Drivers Champion, Mark Lambert in 2013, Greg Van Alst in 2014, Jason Atkinson in 2015, Eddie Van Meter in 2016, Jason Neal was the 2017 Owners Champion, Tony Brutti in 2018. Zachary Tinkle was the series 2019 Champion. 

The entry list for Saturday’s event includes two former series Champions, 2008 series Champion Tony Dager and 2007 series Champion Billy Hutson. Other top series drivers entered include 2019 Chase for the Championship drivers Austin Coe and Brian Demland, who was the series 2019 Rookie of the Year. 

Former series regular Chris Shannon from Michigan is entered, as is series rookie Nick Kroneberg, who makes the move up from the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks. Registered rookie Brian Janes is also entered. 

Jeff Marcum, a multi-time late model champion at Anderson Speedway is entered, Marcum got two series wins at Anderson Speedway in 2019. Multi-time series winner Tommy Cook is entered, Cook is a former Champion at Baer Field Speedway and Angola Motor Speedway. 

Other drivers entered for Saturday’s Marcum’s Welding 75 include Tanner Jack, Chris Hettinger, Clay Curts, T.J. Flynn, Chris Jennings, Kevin Gross, Buddy Davis, and James Butler. 

There will be an optional open practice at Anderson Speedway this Friday from 4 to 7pm. On Saturday, pit gates open at 12:00pm. Practice will begin at 1:30pm with qualifying beginning at 3pm. The race program is set to begin at 4:00pm and will include the Marcum’s Welding 75 for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman. Also racing that night will be the Thunder Roadsters, USSA Midgets and Anderson Speedway’s Pro Compacts.
