Columbus, Ohio (Saturday, June 27, 2015): The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS was schedule to compete at Columbus Motor Speedway on Saturday, June 27th in the Bud St. Amant Memorial 125. Unfortunately Mother Nature had other ideas as misty and persistent showers plagued the event from the late afternoon hours until the early evening with no let up in sight. This forced Champion Racing Association (CRA) Powered by JEGS and Track Officials to Cancel the event. No suitable makeup date could be found so the race will not be rescheduled. 23 cars were on the property.
The next event on the 2015 schedule for the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS also serves as round #2 of the JEGS/CRA $100,000 Super Late Model Triple Crown Series. The 49th Running of the Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300 is on Saturday, July 18th. The fast 1/4 (0.250) mile high-banked paved oval of Anderson Speedway (IN) in Anderson, Indiana will host the prestigious event that will also see the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance and the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series Powered by JEGS competing the night before on Friday, July 17th.
The JEGS/CRA $100,000 Super Late Model Triple Crown Series will pay a driver $100,000 bonus if the Battle at Berlin 251 Winner, Erik Jones can also win the Stoops Freightliner Redbud 300 and the 44th Running of the Winchester 400 at Winchester Speedway on October 11th. There is a $10,000 bonus if a driver can win two of the events. If no driver wins two of the Triple Crown events, the driver who accumulates the most points during those three events will receive a $5,000 bonus and the title of 2015 JEGS/CRA $100,000 Super Late Model Triple Crown Series Champion.
This event will be the 58th all-time appearance at the track. Two-time series champion, Brian Ross leads the way with nine career triumphs at the fast 1/4 mile while 1997 series champion, Kenny Tweedy, Canadian legend, Junior Hanley and three-time series champion, Johnny VanDoorn all have four victories each. Another three-time series champion, Scott Hantz has three wins at Anderson and is tied with 2003 series champion, Bobby Parsley, 2005 series champion, Jeff Lane and T.J. Reaid who also have three. Jim Cooper is next with two wins as 22 other drivers have one career CRA win in Central Indiana including Daniel Hemric, who won the last event, the 2014 Redbud 300 back on June 14th, 2014 and Eddie Van Meter, who won the most recent race, the Madison County Community Health Center 125 on April 26th.
