CRA Late Model Sportsman at Anderson Speedway Sunday Evening
Salem, Indiana (Thursday, August 13, 2015): The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Sunday, for a special Sunday evening show at Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, IN. The fast high-banked quarter mile normally races only on Saturday nights but will have this special Sunday show this weekend.
Sunday’s event will be the sixth point’s race of the season for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, and the last of four series events at Anderson, battling against many of the Anderson Speedway McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models contenders. With his victory at the series last event on July 17th at Anderson, 2014 series Champion Greg Van Alst has taken over the points lead at the series halfway point of the 2015 season. The victory came exactly a year after Van Alst scored his first ever CRA victory.
Van Alst has a slim one point lead over Jason Atkinson, who has one series victory this year at Lucas Oil Raceway on May 8th. J.P. Crabtree is third in series points, he is 33 points behind Atkinson. Rookie Matthew Parsons is in fourth place, he is only four points behind Crabtree. 2014 series Rookie of the Year Jack Dossey III is in fifth place, he is only two points behind Parsons with one victory so far this season, which came May 2nd at Anderson Speedway.
Other series winners in 2015 include Scott Tomasik at Anderson Speedway on June 13th and Terry Fisher Jr., who picked up a victory on July 3rd at Lucas Oil Raceway. Shawn Amor has one series victory in the Lucas Oil Raceway Stock Car Series season opener on April 24th.
Dossey, the 2014 Anderson Speedway McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models points Champion, comes into Saturday’s race leading the points once again in that division with three wins so far in 2015.
Pit gates open on Sunday at 1:30pm, practice will begin at 3:30pm with qualifying at 5pm. The race program will begin at 6pm and will include a 75 lap feature for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS. The Vore’s Compact Touring Series will also be in action with heat races and a 30 lap feature.
