ARCA/CRA Super Series Historic 20th Season Continues at Toledo Speedway SaturdayScott Menlen
Salem, IN (April 13, 2016) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will head to Toledo Speedway, located in Toledo, Ohio, for this weekend’s 7-UP 200 event, that will also include racing action from the ARCA Gold Cup Outlaw Late Models. Saturday’s series event will be the second event of its historic 20th season of competition. Last Saturday the series began its 2016 racing season with a 50 lap points event at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville, as part of the North/South Super Late Model Challenge, where rookie Dalton Armstrong led all 50 laps to get his first ever ARCA/CRA Super Series victory.
Saturday’s 7-UP 200 event will once again feature the best of the ARCA/CRA Super Series battling the best of the ARCA Midwest Tour on the fast 1/2 mile high-banked paved oval in a 100 lap feature. This will be the fourth year in a row that Toledo Speedway has hosted the series combo battle.
Topping the list of entries to date is 2014 and 2015 event winner Brian Campbell, who led the series with four victories during the 2015 season and has now moved into a third place tie on the series all-time victory list with 18 victories.
Also entered is 2013 event winner Johnny VanDoorn, who is tied with Campbell for third on the all-time victory list along with the legendary Junior Hanley. The three time series Champion VanDoorn, will be behind the wheel of the TK Racing #71 on Saturday.
Three time series Champion Scott Hantz, the series all-time victory leader, has entered. 2013 and 2014 series Champion Travis Braden is also entered, he is the current points leader with the series after finishing second at Nashville last weekend. 2015 series Champion and Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Grant Quinlan is entered. Rookie Dalton Armstrong is also entered, looking to get his second series victory in a row for Scott Neal Racing.
There are a number of other very talented drivers entered for the event from both series including Chad Finley, Cody Coughlin, Rick Turner, Brandon Oakley, Wes Griffith Jr., Matt Kocourek, Jordan Pruitt, Nick Murgic, Jeff Cannon, Chris Koslek, Tom Woodin, Hunter Jack and Russ Blakely.
Jeff Ganus, one of the top Outlaw Late Model drivers in the Michigan, Ohio and Indiana area over the past several years, is entered to make his ARCA/CRA Super Series debut this weekend with Midwest late model icon Bobby Blount as crew chief.
Activities will begin at Toledo Speedway with an Open Practice on Friday, pits will open at 11am with hauler parking. Tech will open at 1pm. Rotating Open Practice will go from 3 to 7pm.
Pit Gates open on Saturday at 8am, ARCA/CRA Super Series practice will go from 10 to 11am. ARCA Gold Cup Outlaw Late Model practice will go from 11am until 12 noon. Qualifying will begin at 1pm, for both groups. There will be an on track Autograph Session with all the drivers following qualifying. The 7-UP 200 is set to begin at 3pm with the 100 lap feature for the ARCA/CRA Super Series and ARCA Midwest Tour, followed by the ARCA Gold Cup Outlaw Late Model 100 lap feature.
