Final CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Series Event at Anderson Speedway Saturday
Salem, IN (June 22, 2016) – The CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday at Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, IN, for the third and final event of the CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Series, which featured three 200 lap, $3000 to win events. Josh Poore got the win in the first event of the Triple Crown on April 23rd at Shadybowl Speedway. Chuck Barnes Jr. got the win in the second Triple Crown event at Kentucky Motor Speedway on May 29th, holding off Brett Hudson to get his first ever CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Series win.
In addition to the $3000 to win for each event, there will be a Points Champion Crowned Saturday night from the three events who will receive a $1000 bonus. Second in points will receive a $500 bonus, then there will be another $500 bonus from a random draw from the cars that attended all three events. Crumrine Buckle Manufacturing will award the overall Triple Crown Point’s Champion and the three event winners with specially designed buckles.
Hudson leads the CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Series points with a fourth place finish at Shadybowl and his second place finish at Kentucky Motor Speedway. Hudson holds an 11 point lead over fellow Kentucky native Shawn Smith, who’s in second with an eighth place finish at Shadybowl and a third place finish at Kentucky. Poore is in third place, four points behind Smith after he finished 13th at Kentucky after mechanical issues. 2014 and 2015 Triple Crown Series Champion Jason Atkinson is in fourth place, he is seven points behind Poore. Phil Jenkins is in fifth place, he is five points behind Atkinson. Atkinson won last year’s Anderson 200 on his way to winning the Triple Crown Title.
Jenkins is the series Season Championship point’s leader after the Kentucky 200 at Kentucky Motor Speedway. Jenkins has a 13 point lead over James Kirby III heading into Saturday night’s event. Jimmy Kirby is in third place, he is 11 points behind his son. Mason Keller is in fourth place, he is 31 points behind Kirby. Rookie Justin Oberlin is in fifth place, he is seven points behind Keller.
Other series winners in 2016 besides Triple Crown Series event winners Poore and Barnes Jr. include Jeff Lane winner of the April 3rd series season opener at Lucas Oil Raceway, Austin Coe at Lucas Oil Raceway on May 6th and Poore who won at Anderson Speedway on May 14th.
There is an open practice on Friday, pits open at 4pm with open practice from 5 to 8pm. Gates open on Saturday at 3:30pm. Practice is set to begin at 5pm with qualifying for the CRA Street Stocks at 6:30pm. The race program will begin at 8pm and will include the Anderson 200 for the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS. Also in action will be the Anderson Speedway Thunder Cars and Figure 8’s.
