CRA Street Stock at Anderson Speedway Saturday
Salem, IN (July 27, 2016) – The CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday at Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, IN, for the eighth series event of the season and the third of five series events at Anderson Speedway during the 2016 season. Jason Atkinson got the win in the CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Series 200 lap event at Anderson on June 25th, Brett Hudson was crowned the 2016 CRA Street Stock Triple Crown Series Champion that evening.
Phil Jenkins comes into Saturday night’s event with a 41 point lead in the series Championship points over Mason Keller, who has fought his way back into contention after not being able to start the Shady Bowl Speedway event after an engine leak during practice. Jenkins has five straight top ten finishes, including two third place finishes, one on May 14th at Anderson and another on May 6th at Lucas Oil Raceway. Keller has also put together five straight top ten finishes since Shady Bowl, including a third place finish in the series last event on July 8th at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Andrew Teepe is in third place in points, he is 27 points behind Keller. Rookie Justin Oberlin is in fourth place in points, he is 28 points behind Teepe. James Kirby has seen a streak of bad luck move him to fifth place in points, he is 12 points behind Oberlin with seven point races remaining in the 2016 season for the series.
Other series winners in 2016 include Austin Coe who won the series last event on July 8th at Lucas Oil Raceway and got another win at Lucas Oil Raceway on May 6th. Josh Poore got the win in the first event of the Triple Crown on April 23rd at Shadybowl Speedway and won at Anderson Speedway on May 14th. Chuck Barnes Jr. got the win in the second Triple Crown event at Kentucky Motor Speedway on May 29th. Jeff Lane won the series season opener on April 3rd at Lucas Oil Raceway.
Gates open on Saturday at 3:30pm. Practice is set to begin at 5pm with qualifying for the CRA Street Stocks at 6:30pm. The race program will begin at 8pm and will include the 75 lap feature for the CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS. Also in action will be the Anderson Speedway Thunder Cars and the 75 lap National Crown for the Harts Auto Figure 8’s.
