200 Laps of Late Model Racing – Flat Rock Level Pebble 200 August 12Scott Menlen
Flat Rock, MI—August 2, 2017: For the first time in the history of Flat Rock Speedway, 2 types of Late Models will race on the same night! It’s the “Level Pebble 200”, featuring a 125 lap feature for the ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by Jeg’s stock-bodied Late Models and a 75 lap race for the ARCA Super 6 Gold Cup outlaw-bodied Late Model Series. The race date is Saturday, August 12 at the fast ¼ mile paved oval.
Fans can save $5 on an advance ticket purchase for the event by calling the track at 734-782-2480 or stopping at the track office. All seating is general admission for this race. The advance sale ends at 5 p.m. Friday, August 11.
The early entry list for the ARCA/CRA cars includes Scott Hantz, Brian Campbell, John VanDoorn, 4-time Flat Rock Late Model champ Eric Lee, rookies Hunter Jack and Josh Brock, as well as 2 rookies who are attracting national interest—Chase Purdy of Huntersville, NC and Raphael Lessard of St. Joseph, Ontario Canada. Local drivers entered include Clarity Patton, rookie Hayden Sprague and veteran Harold Fair Jr., who is anticipating debuting a new car for the 125. A field of 20 cars is expected.
The 75 lap contest for the ARCA Super 6 Gold Cup Series Late Models is the final race in the 6-race series, which saw 3 races at Toledo and 3 at Flat Rock this season. Harold Fair Jr., Frankie Jiovani and Dennis Strickland are the leaders in the Gold Cup Series heading into the August 5 race at Toledo and are expected to compete at Flat Rock. Current Flat Rock Late Model point leaders Justin Schroeder, Stan Yee Memorial 150 winner Jimmy Thiel, Jiovani, Stan Yee Jr., Jeff Plumb, Paul Pelletier and Justin Claucherty are also expected to battle for the top honors. A total of 20-25 cars should be on hand for this event.
The track’s ARCA Victory Lane Quick Oil Change Figure 8 division will also be in action with a full race card on the schedule.
Practice begins at 3 p.m., time trials are set for 5:45 and racing begins at 7 p.m.
