The 51’s – Vote for Short Track Racing’s Best of 2017
Special from Speed51.com – The 2018 short track racing season may be heating up, but that doesn’t mean we don’t have time to look back on the season that was in 2017. It’s time to honor the best that the season had to offer in this year’s edition of “The 51’s” on Speed51.com.
The 51’s is an annual tradition for short track racing fans that coincides with the film industry’s Academy Awards held on March 4. Likewise, the format is similar with movie themes corresponding to the different categories of short track racing awards.
Throughout the voting period, short track fans will be able to make their way to Speed51.com and vote on awards such as: Driver of the Year, Rookie of the Year, Short Track Bad Boy, Best Track and Best Touring Series. In total, there are 20 different awards that will be presented.

Once again, the very popular “Best Finish” category returns with videos of each finish to help fans make their choice. Additionally, we’ve added a new video category that will decide the best overall video production on Speed51.com from the 2017 season.
We’ve also been bombarded with great photographs from short track photographers all over North America. It was very difficult to narrow it down to 20 nominees, so now we’re leaving it up to the fans to narrow it down even more by voting for the Photo of the Year.
Another new category for the 2017 51’s is the Best Racing Destination category. This award looks beyond just the on-track product at a racing facility. It looks at the spectacular views at each destination, as well as the additional recreational and entertainment options in each location.
Fans can make their way to Speed51.com once a day and submit one ballot per day, per email. Our staff will be hard at work to ensure that voting is fair, and any party found to be cheating (racers never cheat, right?) will have all their votes disqualified.
Voting will end on Sunday, March 4 at 11:59 p.m. ET. The winners of this year’s “51’s” will be revealed beginning Tuesday, March 6.
