ARCA/CRA Super Series at Anderson Speedway Saturday
Salem, IN (May 1, 2018) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will continue its 22nd season of competition this Saturday night at Anderson Speedway, the famous high-banked quarter mile racetrack located in Anderson, Indiana. Anderson Speedway is where the series had its first ever event on Saturday, April 26, 1997. Saturday will be the 63rd series event that Anderson Speedway has hosted since that Saturday in 1997, the most of any track the series has raced at.
Saturday will be the only opportunity for the ARCA/CRA Super Series teams to get some racing on the tight quarter mile prior to the prestigious Parallax Power Supply Redbud 400, which will take place on Monday, July 16th. Saturday’s winner of the Aerco Heating & Cooling 125 will collect $5000, an increase of $2000 over the normal winner’s payout, thanks to Anderson Speedway.
The event has a very talented list of ARCA/CRA Super Series competitors entered for Saturday night’s event including 2017 series Champion and Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Logan Runyon. Josh Brock is the highest driver in current series points after the series only event this season at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville that is entered. Brock looks to challenge for the series Championship after having to end his season early last year.
2017 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Champion and former Anderson Speedway Late Model Champion Jack Dossey III is entered. Dossey made his ARCA Racing Series debut at Salem Speedway on April 22nd, and will also compete for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship again in 2018 as well as making two additional ARCA Racing Series starts and several ARCA/CRA Super Series starts.
2016 event winner and 2017 event runner-up Eddie Van Meter is entered to make his 2018 season debut with the series. Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Anderson Speedway event winners Brett Robinson and Anderson’s own Greg Van Alst are entered. Other CRA competitors entered include Hunter Jack, Kyle Crump, Anthony Danta, Ryan Issacs, Cassten Everidge and former ARCA Racing Series and Outlaw Late Model competitor Michael Simko.
A tough group of Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year competitors are entered including 2017 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Rookie of the Year Carson Hocevar, who had a rookie record of three series wins in 2017. The other rookies entered include former JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour competitors Austin Kunert and Jon Beach and multi-time CRA Late Model Sportsman winner Billy Van Meter, son of Eddie Van Meter.
2016 and 2017 Anderson Speedway Late Model Champion Jeff Marcum is entered along with multi time Anderson Speedway Street Stock Champion and multiple CRA Street Stock feature winner Josh Poore, who will compete in a Scott Neal Racing machine. Former series Anderson Speedway winner Scott Neal is also entered in a team car to Poore, Neal was in the inaugural series event at Anderson Speedway in 1997 and has been a Championship winning Car Owner and Crew Chief with CRA for several seasons.
Canadian racer Cayden Lapcevich is also entered driving a car fielded by former ASA Touring Series competitor Harold Fair. This will be Lapcevich’s second CRA start, he also raced at the season opening SpeedFest 2018 non-points event. Lapcevich has raced in the NASCAR Pinty Series the last three season scoring six wins and the series 2016 Championship.
There will be an open practice at Anderson Speedway this Friday, pits open at 4pm and practice will run from 5pm until 8pm. Pits open on Saturday at 1:30pm. Practice will begin at 4pm with qualifying starting at 6:30pm. The race program will begin at 8pm and will include the Aerco Heating & Cooling 125 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series. Also on the night’s race program will be the Vores Compact Touring Series, the Anderson Speedway Front Wheel Drives and Figure 8’s, in a night full of stock car racing action.
