Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway up Next for the ARCA/CRA Super Series
Salem, IN (May 15, 2018) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will continue its 22nd season of competition this coming weekend with the $12,000 to win RustyWallaceCars.com 100 as part of the Rusty Wallace Automotive Group Short Track U.S. Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway Presented by Vore’s Welding. More than 300 race cars split among six classes are expected to be in competition during the three-day event, including racing in Super Late Models, Pro/Crate Late Models, Late Model Stocks, Modifieds, Street Stocks and Compacts.
That Rusty Wallace Automotive Group Short Track U.S. Nationals Super Late Model event will be a co-sanctioned event between the ARCA/CRA Super Series, the Southern Super Series and the CARS Super Late Model Tour. The three premier Super Late Model touring series co-sanctioned last year’s Super Late Model event with the Short Track U.S. Nationals won by Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series rookie competitor Bubba Wallace and the North/South Super Late Model Challenge at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville this past April.
With the Short Track U.S. Nationals format and high car count, the event will be a special point’s event for all three series. For the ARCA/CRA Super Series teams, the event will be an 80 point minimum event, every team that has a car at the event will receive 80 points, which is just like finishing 10th in a normal ARCA/CRA Super Series event. Teams can only receive additional points by qualifying in the top five or finishing in the top ten of the RustyWallaceCars.com 100 on Sunday.
The entry list for the RustyWallaceCars.com 100 is full of talent from all over the country. Entries have been received from former NASCAR competitor and 2017 Redbud 400 winner Steve Wallace, Canadian NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor Stuart Freisen, part-time NASCAR Camping World Truck Series competitor Spencer Davis, 2016 CARS Super Late Model Tour Champion Rapheal Lessard, also Stephen Nasse, Mason Mingus, Tyler Ankrum, Jake Crum, Connor Okrzesik and Trevor Noles.
The ARCA/CRA Super Series is also well represented starting with current series point’s leader Josh Brock, who got his first ever series win on May 5th at Anderson Speedway. Also 2017 series Champion and Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year Logan Runyon, Hunter Jack, Greg Van Alst and former ARCA Racing series multi-time winner Joey Miller. The series also has a talented group of Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year competitors entered for Bristol including current rookie point’s leader Austin Kunert, who got a series best finish of second at Anderson, also Jon Beach, Tristan Van Wieringen and Billy Van Meter.
The Rusty Wallace Automotive Group Short Track U.S. Nationals will kick off on Thursday with pre-parking in the pits and pit pass sales from 4pm until 7pm. There will be a “move in” party at the track from 7pm to 9:30pm with music, refreshments and door prizes.
On Friday there will be practice, qualifying and racing for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, plus practice and qualifying for the I-CAR All-Star Modified Tour, open practice and an All-Star Dash and New Star Feature for the VORES Compact Touring Series. Pits will open on Friday at 9am. Practice will start at 12noon, qualifying at 5pm with racing action starting at 7pm.
On Saturday there will be practice, qualifying and racing for the Cars Late Model Stock Tour and the VORES Compact Touring Series and one practice session and racing for the I-CAR All-Star Modified Tour. The Super Late Models and Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks will have open practice only on Saturday. Pits open on Saturday at 9am, practice begins at 11am with qualifying starting at 4:50pm. Racing will start at 5:30pm.
On Sunday the Super Late Models and Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks will have practice, qualifying and will race their features. Pits open at 8am, practice will begin at 10:30am with qualifying starting at 12noon. The races will begin at 2pm and will include the Super Late Models RustyWallaceCars.com 100.
