Anderson Speedway up Next for Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Saturday
Salem, IN (July 25, 2018) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday at Anderson Speedway located in Anderson, IN, in the second of three series events at the fast quarter mile this season. Saturday’s event was originally scheduled to take place on April 7th, but was postponed because of weather.
The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman kicked off their 2018 season at Mt. Lawn Speedway, on May 27th were Danny Trent went to victory lane. The series second event was contested on Saturday, June 23rd at Baer Field Motorsports Park were Tommy Cook took the win. The third event of the season was the first Triple Crown event, which was at Mt. Lawn Speedway on July 1st, were Jeff Marcum Picked up the win. The fourth event of the season was the Motion Motors/PGG Shoot-Out 100 at Anderson Speedway, the second Triple Crown Series event on July 14th, were Marcum got his second straight series win.
Series rookie Chris Shannon comes into Saturday’s event as the series Championship point’s leader. Tony Brutti has now moved into second place, he is 17 points behind Shannon. Rookie Zachary Tinkle is in third place, he is only four points behind Brutti. Neil McClelland is in fourth place, he is 48 points behind Tinkle. 2007 series Champion Billy Hutson is now in fifth place, he is 13 points behind McClelland.
2016 and 2017 Anderson Speedway Late Model Champion Marcum, currently leads the Anderson Speedway McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models points to date. Marcum is five for five in McGunegill Engine Performance Late Model wins so far this season, plus his win in the July 14th series event. Dustin Burge is second in McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models points, followed by Rich Segvich in third, Kent Carson in fourth and Danny Trent in fifth place. Many of the McGunegill Engine Performance Late Models are expected to race in Saturday night’s event.
Pit Gates open on Saturday at 4pm. Practice will begin at 5pm, qualifications will begin at 6:30pm. The race program will begin at 8pm and will include the 75 lap event for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman. Also racing Saturday will be the Anderson Speedway Figure 8 cars in their traditional National Crown eevnt, as well as the Anderson FWD’s and the CSR Mini Cups.
