Andrew Teepe Gets First CRA Win at Anderson Speedway
Salem, IN (August 20, 2018) – Indianapolis, Indiana’s Andrew Teepe got his first ever CRA win in Saturday night’s Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS First Financial 75 at Anderson Speedway. Teepe picked up a win last year at Anderson Speedway in the track’s Street Stock division. Teepe led the final 50 laps Saturday night at the lightning fast Anderson Speedway.
Following the victory Teepe said he hopes to return to the Star Financial Winner’s Circle on September 15th in the second event of the 2018 Chase for the Championship for the CRA Street Stocks.
Anderson driver Travis Burge set fast time during qualifying but with the invert of five, it put Danny Adams and Jacob McElfresh on the front row.
Elwood’s McElfresh got the job at the start chased by Adams, Teepe, J.J. Schafer and Burge. Teepe used the high groove to pass Adams on the third circuit.
For the next 15 laps the running order remained unchanged until Burge got around Schafer in turn three.
Teepe was finally able to get inside of McElfresh on lap 26 on the front straight to take the point that he would never surrender.
The first of three caution flags waved on lap 41 when Evan Burch spun on the back straight with a nudge from Schafer, both drivers were sent to the tail of the field.
Teepe had to hold off McElfresh through three restarts for the victory by less than a second. While Teepe was holding off McElfresh there was a tight battle for the third spot between Danny Adams, Travis Burge, James Kirby III and Thomas Skiles.
Adams was able to turn back challenges from all comers and with less than five laps remaining had the car of Kirby climb onto his left side body work. Kirby momentarily got airborne, but both drivers were able to continue.
Following Teepe and McElfresh at the finish was Adams, Kirby and Skiles. For his pass and the win Teepe picked up the Racer Parts Wholesale Sweet Move of the Race Award.
“The crew gave me a great car tonight,” Teepe said following the win. “Jacob (McElfresh) had a good car but I was a little better on the restarts. I hope to be right back here in September!”
McElfresh said Teepe was able to hold him off on the restarts and that his car was just a little off.
“I could have wrecked him,” McElfresh said. “But I wouldn’t do that. His car was really strong on the restarts.”
Adams followed up his second place finish in the 200-lap race at Anderson Speedway with a gritty third place finish.
“The car was a handful,” Adam’s remarked. “We were tight going into the corners and loose coming off. I was lucky to hold on to third.”
Skiles had the most impressive run of the night starting on the tail of the 14-car field after missing his qualifying spot to finish in fifth place. For his great run Skiles picked up the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award.
The next event for the Lawrence Towing CRA Street Stocks is the rescheduled Bob Fields Memorial 200 at Mt. Lawn Speedway, this Saturday, August 25th. For more information on all the CRA series go to www.cra-racing.com.
