Detailed Race Procedures Announced for Speed51 Super Select
Special from Speed51.com – The inaugural Speed51 Super Select at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis, Indiana is just a couple of weeks away. The $10,000-to-win Super Late Model “All-Star” race is shaping up to be one of the biggest and most unique events in all of short track racing. Officials from Track Enterprises, Champion Racing Association and Speed51.com have released the procedures that are making this event so unique.
The event is a 75-lap race, split into three segments. Each segment will be 25 laps in length, with a five-minute break at the end of the first two segments. Cars that are not on the race track at the conclusion of the five-minute breaks will forfeit their starting position and will start that segment at the rear of the field.
At the end of the RGS Products Inc. first segment, the top 12 finishers will be inverted. The 12th-place finisher will start the second segment on the pole, while the winner of the first segment will start 12th. The winner of the first segment will receive a $1,000 bonus from RGS Products.
In order to keep drivers from “racing for the invert,” the starting lineup for the third and final 25-lap segment will be determined by the combined finishes from the first and second stages. Meaning, the better you finish in both stages means the better you’ll start in the final stage and the better your chances at claiming the $10,000 check will be.
Speed51 Super Select weekend will begin on Friday, September 7thwith two practice sessions. The first session will be one hour in length and the second will be 45 minutes in length. There will also be two practice sessions on September 8th, the day of the race. The first practice session will be 45 minutes in length and the final practice session will be a half-hour session.
A time-trial qualifying format will be in effect for both the Speed51 Super Select feature and the Open event. The 75-lap feature starting lineup will be straight up from qualifying results. The drivers that transfer into the main event from the Open will start at the rear of the field behind the drivers that were locked in via invites.
Race procedures will be the usual Champion Racing Association race procedures used at all ARCA/CRA Super Series events. However, the Speed51 Super Select, though it is sanctioned by the Champion Racing Association and is using CRA race procedures, is not a CRA points-paying race.

A limited number of additional invites will be sent out to 2018 race winners prior to the Speed51 Super Select on September 8. Drivers who do not receive an invite are encouraged to file an entry for the 30-lap qualifying race, “The Open,” that will be held prior to the main event.
