Chick Claims Fourth-Place Finish in JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Championship Standings
Special from Inside Line Promotions – WINCHESTER, Ind. (Oct. 25, 2018) – After a roller coaster ride of a weekend, Mandy Chick finished the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Chase for the Championship battle in fourth place.
Chick and the team made the trip to Winchester Speedway for the season finale on Oct. 12 when she was one of four drivers eligible for the title.
Chick kicked off the weekend by partaking in multiple practice sessions. In the first practice, she blew a motor. The team sprang into action to swap everything from the primary car over to the backup before the second practice. In the second session, Chick battled with problems as the clutch was failing and had to be replaced.
“My team really stepped up to the plate,” she said. “They worked really hard and quickly to get everything switched over to the backup car after we blew the motor in practice. I thought we were having another motor issue in the second practice, but it turns out it was just the clutch failing. Luckily it rained out the rest of the day, which was supposed to have qualifying and the 100-lap feature. Since they rescheduled for the next day, we had all night to get the car back to race-ready before the feature the next night. We didn’t get to qualify so they took practice times to determine the lineup for the feature.”
Chick was scheduled to line up from the outside of the eighth row in the main event. However, in a four-lap scuff session, Chick was taking the green flag when she and a fellow competitor made contact that unfortunately ended the weekend early.
“There were several things we encountered that were unexpected,” Chick said. “Everything we did that weekend was frustrating and we struggled with that. I kept telling my crew that it was just a setback and we had to overcome the adversity, but it’s safe to say that the weekend did not go as we planned. Not every weekend can be perfect. We just have to take a bad weekend and learn from it and move on to be better for next year.”
Chick said that she and the team will return to the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour to contend for the championship again in 2019.
Since Chick locked into the Chase she is also eligible for the 2018 CRA Most Popular Driver Award. Fans are able to vote for the most popular driver at Speed51.com once a day. Voting will end on Nov. 1. Votes for Chick can be cast at https://speed51.com/2018-most-popular-driver-cra-champion-racing-association/.
