Evan Varney is First Registered Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Model Competitor
Salem, Indiana (January 18, 2019): Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS officials have announced that third generation driver Evan Varney, from Richmond, Michigan, is the first driver officially registered to compete in the 2019 inaugural season for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models. The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models is a new racing series in 2019 to focus on a youth movement for short track stock car racing that will see 10 to 15-year-old drivers compete amongst themselves for both experience and recognition in full size late models with an economical drive train and suspension alternatives.
Varney competed in a Bandolero at Corrigan Oil Speedway and Flat Rock Speedway in 2017 and 2018 after racing Go Karts for several seasons. Varney’s father Bob is a veteran competitor in Template and Outlaw Late Models and has made selected CRA starts over the past several seasons. Evan’s brother Brandon finished in third place in the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Chase for the Championship in 2018.
Teams and drivers become officially registered for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models, first by submitting a Driver Resume to get official approval to compete in the series, then by submitting a CRA License Application to register with the series for the 2019 season. Registered members receive discounted event entry fees and are eligible for all event and end of season Contingency Awards. CRA officials have received numerous resumes for the new series, which all have been approved to date. Varney’s registration is the first of many expected to be submitted in January and February.
The series has a nine race 2019 schedule beginning at Flat Rock Speedway on Sunday, April 28th. The regular season events will consist of eight lap heat races and 25 lap features. The Season Championship event at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville will be a 50-lap feature. The majority of the series events will coincide with existing events on the CRA schedules.
