Hutson Looks to Win Second Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Championship in 2019
Salem, IN (March 14, 2019) – Fort Wayne, Indiana native Billy Hutson came close to winning his second Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS Championship in 2018, coming up just a little short in the Chase for the Championship to Tony Brutti. Hutson finished fourth in the series Championship event at Winchester Speedway on Winchester 400 Weekend, while Brutti finished in second to claim his first ever Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Championship. Hutson hopes to finish one spot better in the 2019 Chase for the Championship with the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman.
“All in all, last year was a pretty good year for me,” remarked Hutson. “Obviously, I wanted to win the Championship, but I feel with what I learned throughout the season we made a huge step forward in our program that will carry into 2019. I’m looking forward to racing again with the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, we plan to do the entire 2019 schedule and win the Chase for the Championship!”
Hutson competed in nine of the series ten events in 2019, picking up his second ever series win in the Fall Brawl event at Lucas Oil Raceway on September 30th. He was the only driver in the final four of the Chase for the Championship to pick up a win in 2018. In all Hutson had seven top five finishes and eight top ten finishes with only one DNF in 2018.
Hutson added, “The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman are a great group of guys to race with and I love the feel of the CRA events. I love the challenge of going to a different race track each event, and I really enjoy some of the unique tracks on the schedule like Mt Lawn Speedway. I’m especially excited about going to Kil-Kare Raceway this year, a track I’ve never been to. My goal this year is to have a lot of fun, win some races, and really improve my program at Winchester Speedway so that we can bring home the championship trophy this season!”
Hutson was a full-time competitor with the series starting in 2006 through the 2009 seasons, the first four years the series had ran, picking up his first series win in 2007 and the series Championship that same season. Hutson competed part-time with the series from 2013 through the 2017 season. In all Hutson has raced in 55 series events to date with 30 top five finishes and 39 top ten finishes and has led 100 laps.
