JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Season Opener at Flat Rock Speedway This Weekend
Salem, IN (April 24, 2019) – The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance is set to open its 2019 points season with this weekend’s Motor City 200 event at Flat Rock Speedway, which will feature the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour in a 100-lap event presented by JEGS.com. This will be the ninth season of competition for the series whose last eight point champions include Erik Jones in 2011, Daniel Hemric in 2012, Cody Coughlin in 2013 and in 2016, Dan Leeck in 2014, Car Owner Champion Bill Burba and Driver Champion Dalton Armstrong in 2015 and Jack Dossey III in 2016 and again in 2017. The Motor City 200 will be promoted by Motor City Racing Promotions.
The entry list is topped by series all-time victory leader Brian Campbell. The Michigan native came away with four series wins in 2018, giving him nine total wins in 13 total appearances with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, passing Daniel Hemric who had eight wins.
Also entered is Michigan native Carson Hocevar, the series 2017 Rookie of the Year. Hocevar scored a rookie record three series wins in his rookie season, he got one win in 2018 at Auto City Speedway. Hocevar is competing part-time in the ARCA Menards Series in 2019, he got a third-place finish in that series last event at Salem Speedway.
Mason Keller, the series 2018 Rookie of the Year and runner up in series points, who was the only 2018 Chase for the Championship driver with a series win in 2018 is entered. Also, fourth in 2018 points Mandy Chick, fifth in 2018 points Tyler Hufford, and eighth in final points Trever McCoy are entered.
Other CRA competitors entered includes 2014 series Champion and former series Dixie 100 event winner Dan Leeck, former series Auto City Speedway winner Eric Lee, former Owosso Speedway event winner Kyle Crump, Anthony Danta, Jerry Andrews, Shawn Szep, Hayden Sprague, Cassten Everidge and Jaren Crabtree.
There are two registered rookies entered for Saturday’s event, Jimmy Tucker, a former Enduro competitor at Flat Rock from nearby Mount Clemens and Jaden Cretacci.
Brandon Varney is entered coming off a third-place finish in the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman 2018 Chase for the Championship. 2018 Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stock Rookie of the Year Brandon Tregemmbo from nearby Ray, Michigan is entered to make his series debut. Michigan driver Brian Bergakker is entered to make his series debut.
The Motor City 200 will be part of a full weekend of on track action at Flat Rock Speedway. There will be an open practice on Saturday for all the Flat Rock regular divisions, plus the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, ICAR Allstar Modified Tour and Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models, who will have 200 laps of feature action on Sunday. Pits open at 9am with rotating practice for all divisions going from 11am until 5pm.
On Sunday, pits will open at 8am. Practice for all three divisions is set to begin at 10:30am. Qualifying for the ICAR Allstar Modified Tour and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will begin at 12:30pm. Racing action will begin at 2pm with the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models 8 lap heat races, followed by any last chance races needed for the ICAR Allstar Modified Tour or JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour. The 200 laps of feature action will start with the 25-lap inaugural feature for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models, followed by the 75 lap ICAR Allstar Modified Tour feature and then the 100 lap JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour feature, which will cap the afternoon of great racing action.
