Rattler 250 Winners Invited to Speed51 Super Select
Special from Speed51.com – Last September, the hottest Super Late Model drivers of 2018 were all primed to square off against each other at Lucas Oil Raceway in Indianapolis in the inaugural Speed51 Super Select. But alas, it was not to be as mother nature showed her ugly side in the form of a weekend-long rain storm, canceling the Super Late Model All-Star Race.
Undaunted, Speed51, the Championship Racing Association and Track Enterprises are already preparing for take two on September 7, again at Lucas Oil Raceway.
While planning to recognizing the best in 2019, we are also giving recognition to drivers who won big events in 2018 but did not get their shot last fall. It is with that premise that we introduce our next two invitations for the 2019 Speed51 Super Select.
The Rattler 250 at South Alabama Speedway has been a cornerstone of the sport each spring for more than 40 years. But the past two years, youth has ruled the roost at SAS.
2019 Rattler 250 winner Giovanni Bromante and 2018 race winner Harrison Burton are hereby invited to the Speed51 Super Select for their triumphs in this great race.
Burton’s Super Late Model exploits the past few years have carried him to new heights in 2019, where he has scored an ARCA victory at Daytona International Speedway and a chance at Rookie of the Year honors in the NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series.
On the other hand, Bromante is just getting started with his SLM career, with his Rattler victory coming in his first start in the division. He has also carried his Rattler victory was not a fluke, following it up with a victory in the next race out at Five Flags Speedway in Southern Super Series competition.
Two young guns, each at different stages in their racing upbringing, will both have the same shot at claiming the inaugural Speed51 Super Select trophy come September 7.
Drivers that accepts their invitation prior to July 1, 2019 will receive a guaranteed starting spot in the race on Saturday, September 7 during Brickyard 400 weekend. Those who accept the invitation will also receive free entry into the race and one set of free tires to use during the race.
Additional invitations will be sent out throughout the 2019 season to Late Model winners.
The winner of the Speed51 Super Select will have a chance to win at least $10,000. Additional bonuses and contingency awards will be announced prior to the race.
A pair of features will be contested on September 7, one for the Super Late Models and a 100-lap race for the USAC Silver Crown Series. There will also be a 50-lap Super Late Model race that will be open to all drivers to compete in. That race will transfer more drivers into the Super Select field.
