Raintree 100 at Mt. Lawn Speedway up Next for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman
Salem, IN (May 22, 2019) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Sunday at Mt. Lawn Speedway, located in New Castle, IN. The series had the honor of helping revive a Central Indiana tradition in the Raintree 100 last season, which was ran at Mt. Lawn Speedway from 1971 through the 2013 season. Morristown, Indiana’s Jeff Marcum, the Raintree 100 winner in 2011 and 2012, was the only former event winner in the field, and he didn’t disappoint the large group of Marcum Racing fans on hand that Sunday evening to watch their favorite driver win his third Raintree 100 over 2007 series Champion Billy Hutson.
Sunday’s Marcum’s Steel and Welding Raintree 100 will be the first event in the 2019 Triple Crown Series for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, which will feature three 100-lap, $2000 to win events, and a points fund that will pay the Triple Crown Champion $1000. There will also be two random draw winners for $500 each from all teams that have attended all three Triple Crown events. The Triple Crown Series other two events will be at Baer Field Motorsports Park on July 20th and the Championship event at Anderson Speedway on August 17th.
The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS kicked off their 2019 season at Anderson Speedway on April 13th were Marcum went wire to wire to get the dominating victory by almost three seconds over second place Tommy Cook. Sunday’s event will be only the second series event of 2019 after the series original season opener at Lucas Oil Raceway in March was cancelled because of weather and the series event at Baer Field Motorsports Park on May 11th was postponed because of weather.
Marcum comes into Sunday’s event as the series point’s leader. Cook is in second place, three points behind Marcum. Hutson is in third place, three points behind Cook. R.J. Norton Jr. is in fourth place, two points behind Hutson. Zachary Tinkle is in fifth place, he is two points behind Norton Jr.
There is an open practice at Mt. Lawn Speedway on Saturday from noon until 6pm. Pit Gates open on Sunday at 1pm. The CRA Late Model Sportsman will have three practice sessions starting at 3pm. Allstar Performance Qualifying is set to begin at 4:50pm. The race program will begin at 6pm and will include the Marcum’s Steel and Welding Raintree 100 for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS. Also racing Sunday will be the Mt. Lawn Thunder Cars, Pro Compacts, Stock Compacts and State Farm Street Drags.
