Hinton Wins Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stock Crown Jewel Tune up Event at Baer Field
Salem, IN (June 29, 2019) – Baer Field Motorsports Park regular Jake Hinton served notice to all street stock competitors that he would have to be one of the favorites in the upcoming $5000 to Win Crown Jewel street stock race at Baer Field with his win in the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks 75 Lap Feature Saturday night at Baer Field. It was Hinton’s second straight series win at Baer Field after capturing last season’s event.
Hinton set the tone earlier in the day by setting fast time in qualifying and securing the Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier Award. He would start sixth after the invert. The field was set for an exciting show as one the fastest cars in practice, Ryan Amonett, would be forced to start from the rear of the field, when he missed qualifying while making mechanical repairs to his machine.
At the drop of the green, Jason Atkinson would take the lead. The event saw only two cautions. As the race wore on, Amonett was steadily making his way through the field. Hinton would finally take the lead on lap 30, and hold on until the end for the victory. Hinton picked up the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award for his winning pass to take the lead. Atkinson would go on to secure the runner-up spot, with Amonett finishing his charge in third place. Amonett picked up the picked up the KRJ Race Products Sweet Move of the Race Award for his run to the front as well as the TCI Hardcharger Award.
The top five was rounded out with Daniel Adams and Chad Richardson. Eight cars finished on the lead lap and 17 cars were still running at the finish. The field would run the first 56 laps of the event without a caution until Richardson brought it out for a spin.
The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks next event will be the non-points special event Crown Jewel Weekend Street Stock race at Baer Field this coming Friday and Saturday. $5000 will go to the winner of the event. Friday will feature practice, qualifying and qualifying heat races, with Saturday hosting final practice, B-Mains and a 60-Lap A-Main.
