Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Model Series Heading Back to Baer Field SaturdayScott Menlen
Salem, Indiana (July 23, 2019): The newest series sanctioned by Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS, the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models, will have their fourth event of their inaugural 2019 season this Saturday and their second visit of the season to Baer Field Motorsports Park located just south of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models will join the ARCA/CRA Super Series for the first time this season at Baer Field on Saturday.
The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models is a new racing series in 2019 to focus on a youth movement for short track stock car racing that will see 10 to 15-year-old drivers compete amongst themselves for both experience and recognition in full size late models with an economical drive train and suspension alternatives. Saturday’s race will be the fourth of eight scheduled races for the series in 2019. The series has had one event canceled because of weather another rescheduled because of weather.
Some of the key components for the rule package for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models will be the mandated use of the $3900 factory sealed Chevrolet Performance 602 crate engine. Teams will also be utilizing less expensive rear ends, transmissions and springs and spec KONI Shocks. The series will also be racing on 8-inch steel wheels and utilizing 8-inch Hoosier Racing tires.
Luke Wilhelm came away with the victory in the inaugural 25 lap feature for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models on May 18th at Birch Run Speedway. Chase Burda, got the win at Baer Field Motorsports Park on July 6th and got his second in a row in the series event at the Indianapolis Speedrome on July 14th, becoming the first ever series driver with two feature wins. Burda also has three heat race wins to date. With their feature victories Burda and Luke Wilhelm are both locked into the series 2019 Chase for the Championship as long as they compete in 70% of the series events leading up to the final three Chase events.
Burda leads the series Championship points standings after three events. Luke Wilhelm is in second, he is 12 points behind Burda. Katelyn Hettinger and Zack Wilhelm are tied for third place, they are 17 points behind Luke Wilhelm. Charlie Keeven is in fifth place, he is six points behind Hettinger and Zack Wilhelm. There are only two regular season events remaining until the 2019 Chase for the Championship begins.
There is open practice time available for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models on Friday, July 26th from 3 to 8pm. On Saturday, pit gates open at 12noon. Practice will begin at 2:15pm. The race program is set to begin at 7pm and will include the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models 8 lap heat races and 25 lap feature.
