Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Model Series Ready for Baer Field Saturday
Salem, Indiana (July 2, 2019): The newest series sanctioned by Champion Racing Association Powered by JEGS, the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models, will have their second event of their inaugural 2019 season this Saturday on the 3/8’s mile track at Baer Field Motorsports Park, located in south of Fort Wayne, Indiana. The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models will be part of a historic huge weekend of racing at Baer Field Motorsports Park this weekend, the three day event will also feature a $20,000 to win ICAR Modifieds All-Star Tour event, a $5,000 to win Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks event, the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, and the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman.
The Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models is a new racing series in 2019 to focus on a youth movement for short track stock car racing that will see 10 to 15-year-old drivers compete amongst themselves for both experience and recognition in full size late models with an economical drive train and suspension alternatives. Saturday’s race will be the second of eight scheduled races for the series in 2019. The series has had one event canceled because of weather another rescheduled because of weather.
Some of the key components for the rule package for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models will be the mandated use of the $3900 factory sealed Chevrolet Performance 602 crate engine. Teams will also be utilizing less expensive rear ends, transmissions and springs and spec KONI Shocks. The series will also be racing on 8-inch steel wheels and utilizing 8-inch Hoosier Racing tires.
12-year-old Luke Wilhelm from Clio, Michigan, came away with the victory in the inaugural 25 lap feature for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models on May 18th at Birch Run Speedway.14-year-old Chase Burda, the first ever MPM Marketing Fast Qualifier Award for the series at Birch Run, finished in second in the feature after winning the fast heat. 11-year-old Katelyn Hettinger, who won one of the 8 lap heat races at Birch Run, finished in third in the feature.
Luke Wilhelm leads the series Championship points standings after one event. Burda is in second, one point behind Wilhelm. Hettinger is in third place, three points behind Burda. Evan Varney is in fourth place, four points behind Hettinger. Jonathan Shafer is in fifth place, four points behind Varney.
On Saturday, pit gates open at 8am. Practice will begin at 9am. The race program is set to begin at 5:15pm and will include the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models 8 lap heat races and 25 lap feature.
