ARCA/CRA Super Series Chase for the Championship Continues on the Famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway
Salem, IN. (August 29, 2019) – The ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS will continue its 2019 Chase for the Championship this Monday on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway as part of the Labor Day Weekend World Stock Car Festival, one of the biggest stock car events held each year in Central Indiana. The weekend will feature exciting racing action from the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS, JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance, ICAR Modifieds All-Star Tour, Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman, Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks, Vores Touring Compacts and Thunder Roadsters. Camping will be available all weekend and there will also be the annual Sunday night party in the pavilion featuring live music.
This event always brings out the best of CRA and some of the best drivers from around the country as they prepare for the 47th Annual Winchester 400, which will take place on Sunday, October 13th. Jett Motorsports driver Jeff Choquette won last year’s exciting Winchester 400 in a tough battle with Chandler Smith. The ARCA/CRA Super Series has had 48 events to date at Winchester Speedway. Three-time ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Johnny VanDoorn is the series all-time winner at Winchester Speedway with five wins.
Monday will be the 11th series event so far this season for the ARCA/CRA Super Series. Current Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year points leader Jack Dossey III won the series points season opener at Anderson Speedway on April 6th. 2018 series Champion Josh Brock won the North/South Super Late Model Challenge at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville on May 5th. Stephen Nasse won the U.S. Short Track Nationals event at Bristol Motor Speedway on June 1st. Brian Campbell won the Money in the Bank 150 special non-points event at Berlin Raceway on June 10th. Brian Bergakker picked up his first ever series win at Flat Rock Speedway on June 22nd. Campbell went back to victory lane in the June 30th Toledo Speedway event. VanDoorn won the Redbud 400 at Anderson Speedway on July 15th. Brock picked up his second series win of the season at Baer Field Motorsports Park on July 27th. Kyle Crump got his first series win at Kalamazoo Speedway on August 7th. Boris Jurkovic won the Battle at Berlin 251, the series last event, at Berlin Raceway on August 17th.
Monday’s race will be the second in the series 2019 Chase for the Championship, which began with the Berlin Raceway event. Josh Brock was the regular season points Champion and is locked into the final four drivers who will race for the series Championship. VanDoorn is second in series Chase points to Brock. Dossey III is in third place, he is 28 points behind VanDoorn. Greg Van Alst is in fourth place, he is six points behind Dossey III. 2017 series Champion Logan Runyon is in fifth place, he is two points behind Van Alst. Hunter Jack and Austin Kunert are tied for sixth place, they are 16 points behind Runyon. All seven series Chase competitors are entered for Monday’s event at Winchester.
The series Glass City 200 event on Saturday, September 21st at Toledo Speedway will be the third event in the Chase for the Championship. The Season Championship event will take place with the Winchester 400 on Sunday, October 13th.
Other top CRA drivers entered for Mondays race includes 2016 event winner and 2016 Champion Cody Coughlin, two time series Champion and 2016 Winchester 400 winner Travis Braden, 2017 event winner Dalton Armstrong, two time series winner Eddie Van Meter, Scotty Tomasik, 2017 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Rookie of the Year and JEGS Tour Labor Day Weekend event winner Carson Hocevar, ARCA/CRA Super Series all-time starts leader and former series Winchester winner Rick Turner, Jaren Crabtree and Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman event winners Shawn Amor and J.P. Crabtree.
Last year’s Labor Day event winner Jeff Fultz is entered, that win was his third time winning that event on Labor Day Weekend. The Mooresville, North Carolina native is a former regular competitor on the High Banks in several divisions prior to moving to North Carolina to further his racing career.
Florida native and Bristol event winner Stephen Nasse is entered for Monday’s event. Nasse is seeking to get his car tuned up for a run at the winner’s trophy for the prestigious Winchester 400 on October 13th.
2018 USAC National Midget Champion Logan Seavey is entered to make his CRA debut on Monday with the Kyle Busch Motorsports Team. The California native, now living in Columbus, Indiana, has driven about every kind of open wheel car with success on dirt and got a win on the DuQuoin State Fairgrounds Dirt Mile track last year in his second ever start in an ARCA Menards Series car. Seavey is seeking more asphalt track time as he starts to move more into pavement racing.
There will be an open practice for all divisions on Saturday, pits open at 10am, and rotating practice will go from 1pm until 5pm. There will be security at the track all weekend so teams can leave their equipment in the track. Pits open on Sunday at 10am, practice will begin at 12noon with qualifying starting at 3pm. Racing action on Sunday will begin at 5pm and will include heat races for the ICAR Modifieds All-Star Tour, CRA Late Model Sportsman, CRA Street Stocks, Thunder Roadsters and the Vores Touring Compacts. The Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will be the first feature of the night and will be followed by a 20 lap feature for the Vores Touring Compacts. The traditional Sunday night party will begin after the racing is completed.
Pits open on Monday at 10am. The first of five feature events will start at 1pm with the 20 lap Thunder Roadsters feature, then the 40 lap CRA Late Model Sportsman feature, followed by the 100 lap ARCA/CRA Super Series feature, then the 40 lap ICAR Modifieds All-Star Tour feature, with the 40 lap CRA Street Stocks feature ending the day.
