Rose Grabs Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Triple Crown 100 Victory at Anderson Speedway
Salem, IN (August 19, 2019) – Anderson, Indiana’s Ronnie Rose ended a season long streak of DNF’s with a huge win in Saturday night’s Triple Crown 100 for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS on the fast ¼ mile of Anderson Speedway. Through a series of mechanical and on track mishaps Rose was having nothing but bad luck in 2019, he led the final 32 laps after passing defending event winner Jeff Marcum to win the $2,000 first place pay off for the Triple Crown Championship event.
“It was my chance to grab the lead,” Rose said of the outside pass of Marcum. “We just wanted to finish a race; so winning takes some of the sting out. The car was tight in the center of the corners at the finish, so I appreciate everyone racing me clean.”
The early lead was taken by defending 2018 Triple Crown Champion Jeff Marcum with Austin Coe and Brandon Varney in close pursuit. There was no change in the running order for the first 48 laps when the second caution flag waved when Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier Billy Hutson make contact with the turn three wall.
That caution put Rose, who started ninth in the field, in the top five for the first time during the event. On the restart Varney moved into the second spot. A string of caution flags between lap 63 and 73 slowed the event several times, including a spin by Varney on the front straight.
Rose moved into the second position on lap 67 with an inside pass of Coe entering turn one and following another caution flag on lap 68 was able to power around the outside of Marcum entering turn one. Marcum’s night would end on lap 73 when he spun in turn three and was collected by the car of Jaren Crabtree.
For the next 12 laps Coe was applying pressure to Rose for the top spot until he spun on lap 91, setting up a nine-lap run to the finish with Rose getting the win, his second win with the series, his first came during the 2012 season. Rose picked up the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race for his pass of Coe to get the win as well as the Spillers Towing Hardcharger Award for gaining eight positions.
Cassten Everidge finished in second after starting sixth. Varney recovered to get a third-place finish and received the KRJ Race Products Sweet Move of the Race Award. Zachary Tinkle finished in fourth with Coe in fifth place. 14-year-old Jonathan Shafer finished in sixth in his series debut.
With his fourth-place finish, Zachary Tinkle was Crowned the 2019 Triple Crown Champion. He won the first Triple Crown event of the season at Mt. Lawn Speedway. The second Triple Crown event of the season was cancelled because of heat. Tinkle picked up the $750 Triple Crown Champions bonus while Cory Setser and Coe’s names were drawn for the two $375 bonuses from all teams that attended both Triple Crown events.
With their wins and participation during the 2019 season, Tinkle and Coe are in the series 2019 Chase for the Championship, which begins at the series next event at Winchester Speedway on Labor Day Weekend as part of the World Stock Car Festival on September 1st and 2nd. The other four drivers eligible to participate in the Chase for the 2019 Season Championship include Setser, leading series rookie Brian Demland, 2007 series Champion Hutson and Kent Carson.
