Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman at Anderson Speedway Saturday
Salem, IN (September 24, 2019) – The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Powered by JEGS will be back in action this Saturday at Anderson Speedway, located in Anderson, Indiana. Saturday’s event will be the third and final series event at Anderson during the 2019 season. The event will also feature the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS and the Season Championship event for the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models.
The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman kicked off their 2019 season at Anderson Speedway on April 13th were Jeff Marcum got the win. Zachary Tinkle got the win in the series second event of the season at Mt. Lawn Speedway on June 30th. Austin Coe got the win in the series third event of the season at Baer Field on July 6th on the tracks Crown Jewel Weekend. Justin Alsip picked up the win in the fourth event of the season at Kil-Kare Raceway on August 4th. Ronnie Rose got the win in the series Triple Crown Championship event at Anderson Speedway on August 17th, the fifth event of the season. 2007 series Champion Billy Hutson won the series sixth event of the season on Labor Day Weekend at Winchester Speedway. Terry Fisher Jr. got the win in the series last event at Lucas Oil Raceway on September 15th.
The series began its 2019 Chase for the Championship at Winchester Speedway on Labor Day Weekend The second event of the Chase was the Fall Brawl event on September 15th. Saturday’s event at Anderson Speedway will be the third event, of the Chase with the final Season Championship event on Saturday, October 12th on Winchester 400 Weekend.
Corey Setser was the regular season points Champion and is locked into the final four drivers who will race for the series Championship as long as he competes in Saturday’s Chase event. With his win at Winchester, Hutson is also locked into the final four drivers to compete for the Championship as long as he competes in Saturday’s Chase event. There are four drivers that will be racing for the final two positions in the final four to race for the Season Championship, if one of those drivers wins Saturday, then they will be locked in, the fourth position would be decided by points earned during the Chase. If none of those four drivers wins Saturday night, then the final two positions would go to the two drivers who earned the highest points during the Chase that are not already locked in.
The four drivers racing for those final two positions on Saturday include Coe, who has a substantial 34-point lead over 2019 series Rookie of the Year Brian Demland. Demland has a four-point lead over the third driver, veteran Kent Carson. Carson has a six-point lead over the fourth driver Tinkle, who has had two straight DNF’s in the two Chase events to date.
This past Saturday night Tinkle was crowned the Anderson Speedway 2019 McGunegill Engine Performance Late Model Sportsman Champion and Rookie of the Year, the event was won by Marcum with Rose in second and Tinkle third.
There is an open practice at Anderson on Friday evening from 4 to 7pm. On Saturday, pit gates open at 2:30pm. Practice will begin at 4pm. Allstar Performance Qualifying for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman will be at 5:30pm. The race program is set to begin at 7pm and will include the 75-lap feature event for the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman.
