CRA Street Stocks 2019 Season Down to One Race for the Championship at Winchester Speedway
Salem, IN (October 9, 2019) – The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will finish its 15th season of competition this Saturday on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway. Saturday’s season Championship event will be part of the big 48th Annual Winchester 400 Weekend Presented by CB Fabricating, one of the premier stock car events in the Midwest.
Saturday’s event will be the 13th event of the 2019 season for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks, who opened their 2019 season at Anderson Speedway on April 13th, were Bret Miles Jr. got the victory. Chuck Barnes Jr. won the second event of the season on June 1st at Bristol Motor Speedway. Jason Atkinson picked up the win at the series third event of the season on June 29th at Baer Field Motorsports Park. Ryan Amonett got the win in the series fourth event of the season at Baer Field on July 6th, which was his first ever CRA win. Ben Tunney won the fifth event of the season at the Indianapolis Speedrome on July 14th, his first ever CRA victory.
Amonett returned to victory lane in the sixth event of the season on July 28th at Mt. Lawn Speedway. Chad Pendleton picked up his first series win in the series seventh event on August 4th at Kil-Kare Raceway. Brett Hudson got the win in the eighth event of the season at Anderson Speedway on August 10th and the ninth event on August 24th at Shadybowl Speedway. 2011 series Champion Jeff Lane got the win in the series 10th event of the season at Winchester Speedway on Labor Day Weekend, the first event in the Chase for the Championship. Barnes Jr. got the win in the series Fall Brawl event at Lucas Oil Raceway on September 15th, the 11th event of the season. Josh Poore got the win in the series last event at Anderson Speedway on September 28th.
2019 was the third season CRA has used the Chase for the Championship format to crown their Champions in all five of its series. Andrew Teepe was the regular season points Champion and was locked into the final four drivers who will race for the series Championship. Five other drivers competed in the first three Chase events to be one of the four to race for the series Championship. No Chase drivers won any of the first three Chase events, so Atkinson, J.J. Schafer and Jacob McElfresh will join Teepe to race for the Championship by the points they earned in the Chase events. The driver finishing the highest of those four in Saturday’s 40 lap Season Championship event will be crowned the 2019 Champion. The two Chase drivers eliminated after Anderson were series Rookie of the Year Dallas Frueh and Danny Adams.
Things begin for the Winchester 400 Weekend with an optional load in, hauler parking and pit pass purchases on Thursday, October 10th from 3 to 7pm. Pits open on Friday, October 11th at 10:30am with rotating practice for all divisions beginning at 2:30pm. Second round practice and Group Qualifying for the Vore’s Touring Compacts and the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks New Star events will start at 4:15pm. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Jerico Performance Products qualifying will start at 6pm. Racing action will begin at 7pm with 8 lap heat races for the Vores Touring Compacts. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Season Championship Winchester 100 Presented by JEGS.com will be up next. The Vores Touring Compacts 25 lap feature will follow that. The CRA Late Model Sportsman and CRA Street Stocks 25 lap New Star features will cap off the nights racing action.
Pits open on Saturday, October 12th at 8am, rotating practice for all divisions will begin at 10:45am. Second round practice and Group Qualifying for the CRA Late Model Sportsman Series and CRA Street Stocks will begin at 1:15pm. Qualifying for the ICAR Modifieds Run for the Gun will start at 3:30pm, Hamke Race Cars/Rowdy Manufacturing Pole Qualifying for the 48th Annual Winchester 400 for the ARCA/CRA Super Series will begin at 4pm. The race program will begin at 5pm on Saturday with the ICAR Modifieds Last Chance race if needed. The 40 lap CRA Late Model Sportsman Series Season Championship event will be up next. The ICAR Modifieds 50 lap Run for the Gun will follow. The 20 lap Thunder Roadsters will be next. The 40 lap CRA Street Stocks Season Championship event will cap off this huge night of racing. The Annual Winchester 400 Party in the Pavilion will start in immediately following the races with live music.
On Sunday, October 13th pits will open at 9am. There will be an on-track autograph session with all the 48th Annual Winchester 400 drivers starting at 12:30. Opening ceremonies will begin at 1:30 pm with the 48th Annual Winchester 400 Presented by CB Fabricating taking the green flag at 2pm.
