Wimmer Motorsports Wins 2019 Outerwears Crew Chief of the Year Award
Salem, IN (October 22, 2019) – Wimmer Motorsports has won the Outerwears Crew Chief of the Year Award with the ARCA/CRA Super Series Powered by JEGS for the 2019 season. Wimmer Motorsports, with founder Chris Wimmer and Travis Sauter, were the Crew Chief tandem for 2018 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Josh Brock, who finished runner-up in the ARCA/CRA Super Series 2019 Chase for the Championship and claimed a win in the May North/South Super Late Model Shootout at Fairgrounds Speedway Nashville and won the series July event at Baer Field Motorsports Park. This is the Wisconsin natives second straight season to win the award.
The award was based upon the Chase for the Championship format that CRA was used to determine its Champions again in 2019. The final four scheduled races were utilized to determine the Outerwears Crew Chief of the Year Award based upon a points system for the Chase teams finish in those four events.
Wimmer Motorsports accumulated 17 points over those four races. Brock was the second highest Chase finisher at the Chase opener at Berlin Raceway, the top Chase finisher with his third-place finish at the second Chase race at Winchester, he was the second highest Chase finisher at the Toledo third Chase event and was the second highest Chase finisher at the Season Championship Winchester 400 event.
Van Alst Motorsports, a team effort to Crew Chief 2019 ARCA/CRA Super Series Champion Greg Van Alst, finished in second in the Outerwears Crew Chief of the Year Award points with 12 points. Butch Van Doorn, Crew Chief for three-time series Champion Johnny Van Doorn finished in third with 11 points. Jack Dossey III, his own Crew Chief in 2019, finished in fourth place with nine points.
Wimmer Motorsports will be officially presented the 2019 Outerwears Crew Chief of the Year Award at the 2019 CRA Awards Banquet, which will be held at the Crowne Plaza Indianapolis Downtown at Union Station on Friday, January 3rd, 2020. The award will include a $1000 cash bonus and a trophy.
