Motor City 200 at Flat Rock Speedway Cancelled
Officials Unable to Find a Suitable Reschedule Date
Sterling Heights, MI (Thursday, April 2, 2020) – In accordance with recommendations put forth by local, state, and federal health departments, officials with Motor City Racing Promotions, in conjunction with officials from Flat Rock Speedway and Champion Racing Association, have cancelled the April 25, 2020 running of the Motor City 200. After several days of careful consideration, officials have determined that there is no suitable date for rescheduling the event in its entirety.
The Motor City 200 was set to appear at Flat Rock Speedway on Saturday, April 25. Playing host to the season opener for the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance and the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Model Series for the first time in Flat Rock Speedway history. Also on the line-up was a Modified invitational – bringing the open-wheeled brigade to ‘The Rock’ for the first time since 2007.
The Motor City Racing Promotions’ team has been carefully monitoring the COVID-19 outbreak, along with analyzing the regular updates from Michigan Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, and the updates from President Donald Trump. The health and wellbeing of the drivers, crews and officials, along with President Trump’s recommendations to practice social distancing guidelines through the end of the month, were contributing factors to the decision to cancel the event.
“Though we are disappointed this event will not take place, it is without a doubt, the health and safety of our fans, teams and officials are of the highest priority for us at Motor City Racing Promotions”, said company President, Scott Menlen. “Our team will be ready to serve our partnered short track events across the region once race season safely resumes.”
Motor City Racing Promotions is working closely with Champion Racing Association to assist them in finding replacement dates and venues for their JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour, and the Victory Custom Trailers CRA Junior Late Models. Watch the CRA media outlets for details in the coming days.
