Anderson Speedway Reschedules May 9 Event due to Weather
Anderson, IN (May 5, 2020) – Anderson Speedway officials have decided to postpone the event scheduled for this Saturday, May 9, due to the forecasted cold temperatures at race time and to better prepare themselves for future races in the current Covid environment. The current forecast is for temperatures near freezing Saturday morning, low to mid fifties during the day and lower temperatures at race time. The track has, however, decided to hold an open practice from 1pm to 4pm in its place on Saturday.
“This has definitely been a challenging year for us and every American”, says Rick Dawson, president of Anderson Speedway. “My staff and I are meeting these challenges head on in anticipation of our return to racing in the near future. Looking back, the weather has not been favorable at all this year and with the addition of the Covid health crisis everyone is being forced to adapt. We have been working very closely with our local health officials, who have been as cooperative and informative as we could ask and we all agree that we want to get back on the track as soon as possible, but safely.”
Officials acknowledge that the situation is changing literally day to day and hour to hour. We thank all our fans and competitors for their understanding and cooperation during these times.
“Both hinderances to our season thus far is totally beyond our, the fans or competitor’s control. which makes it tough for all of us. However, I sincerely believe this virus issue will soon be behind us and then we will all pray to Mother Nature for her cooperation. As I said in a prior release, I am not near as good at writing press release as I am running a race” continues Dawson.
The track is now available for private testing on a per car basis during the week. Reserve by calling the track office.
