CARS Tour, CRA Approve Next Gen Body for 2020
The CARS Tour, ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour have approved the next generation of Late Model bodies for competition, effective for a co-sanctioned event between the two sanctioning bodies at Jennerstown Speedway (PA) on July 4.
“CARS Tour and ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS officials are pleased to announce the approval of the Next-Gen body for competition in their Super Late Model divisions, as well as the JEGS/CRA All-Star Tour presented by Chevrolet Performance Pro Late Model division, beginning with the Thomas Automotive American Freedom 300 at Jennerstown Speedway on July 4,” a CARS Tour statement reads. “The new body is approved without any weight penalties or advantages when competing against existing ABC-approved bodies.
“CARS Tour and ARCA/CRA Super Series powered by JEGS officials would like to thank Five Star Bodies, who worked diligently with the CARS Tour and ARCA/CRA to resolve numerous issues during this process. They would also like to thank all the competitors for their patience and understanding throughout the uncertain times.”
The CARS Tour and ARCA/CRA Super Series will compete at Jennerstown Speedway on July 4 in a 200-lap co-sanctioned event. The JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models will also be on hand for a 100-lap race that day.
Earlier this week, the Southern Super Series also approved the next generation bodies for competition, effective at the series’ next event at Five Flags Speedway (FL) on June 26. In that series, teams utilizing the new body will be required to add 25 pounds to their overall weight in comparison to teams using the traditional body.
While Super Late Model teams were not able to use the next generation body at the CARS Tour’s season opener at Southern National Motorsports Park (NC) in March, CARS Late Model Stock Tour teams competed with the new body after it had been approved by NASCAR in late 2019.
The ARCA/CRA Super Series and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour will both be in action this weekend at Lebanon I-44 Speedway (MO) for the Show Me State Showdown, starting their points paying season for 2020. Fans can watch that event on Speed51 by clicking here.
The next CARS Super Late Model Tour event will be June 13 at Hickory Motor Speedway, a combination event with the series’ Late Model Stock Tour.
