Lane Wins Second Straight Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Event Sunday at Mt. Lawn Speedway
Salem, IN (June 15, 2020) – Former series Champion Colby Lane grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag from his pole starting position and never looked back in winning his second straight Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS event of the 2020 season in the series points season opener Sunday evening at Mt. Lawn Speedway. Lane won the series special non-points event on May 30th at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in a car he has driven after working out an arrangement with the Chuck Barnes family. Sunday’s event was raced in front of a great season opening crowd for new track promoter Dave Duncan.
“Man this is awesome to win at Mt. Lawn Speedway,” remarked Lane in victory lane. “This is basically my family’s home track, we have a lot of fans here today and I would like to dedicate this win to them. I have to thank my mom and dad for their support and my crew for all their hard work. I want to thank my sponsor Butcher Concrete and Excavating that is helping us out this season. It’s pretty cool to have me and my dad win our features today!”
Lane’s win did not come easy, there were two late yellow flags in the last five laps forcing Lane to fight off several drivers to keep the lead and eventually the win in the Van Hoy Oil 75, which was the former series Champions eighth all-time win with the series. Lane’s father Jeff took the win in the Mt. Lawn Speedway Modifieds feature event.
Andrew Teepe ran in the front all race and got a hard fought second place finish. The team barely made it to Sunday’s event after having to get an engine fixed after the Lebanon I-44 Speedway event. They team just got the engine back on Friday. For his effort in getting back to the track for Sunday’s event and his great finish, Teepe was awarded the KRJ Race Products Sweet Move of the Race Award.
Jake owns finished in third in his season debut with the series. Calvin Parham finished fourth in his series debut with the series. Two time series Champion Jason Atkinson drove from the tail of the field after being involved in a mid-race caution to finish in fifth place and earned the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award. Atkinson was also the Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier.
The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks next event will be the first 150 lap Four Crown event of the season at Anderson Speedway on Saturday, June 27th. More information on all the CRA Series can be found at www.cra-racing.com.
