Full Steam Ahead for Winchester 400 in October
This year’s Winchester 400 is moving forward with a new wave of enthusiasm. Plans include to host Super Late Model racing’s brightest stars and crown champions across four Champion Racing Association series’. Other racing divisions will be announced in the coming weeks.
While the Labor Day weekend World Stock Car Festival will not be taking place at the famed half-mile, the Champion Racing Association will be contesting a pair of events that weekend for competitors planning to make the trip to Winchester.
The team at Winchester Speedway has cancelled this year’s World Stock Car Festival due to state regulations in place during the COVID-19 pandemic. Nonetheless, racing will carry on for Champion Racing Association competitors on Labor Day Weekend.
This also does not deter plans for the Winchester Speedway team to host this year’s Winchester 400. Winchester Speedway owner Charlie Shaw has named Bob Dillner as the Promoter of Winchester Speedway. He is eagerly looking forward to the 49th Annual running of the crown jewel event.
“I saw the rumors this morning in regards to Winchester Speedway and it’s the furthest thing from the truth. Rumors are bad, but hey, at least they got people talking about one of the most historic tracks in America,” said Dillner.
“Charlie and I have been discussing this year’s events for a while and we have a great meeting with our staff this weekend. We wanted to cancel this year’s World Stock Car Festival to put full-court press on the Winchester 400 and working with the state to make it the premier event it is under any regulations that are set forth. The team at Winchester Speedway is excited and you’ll be hearing a lot of news coming out in the next couple of weeks.”
In place of the World Stock Car Festival, the ARCA/CRA Super Series Super Late Models and JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Pro Late Models will hold another event in the holiday weekend, with details coming in a day or two. The Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman and Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks will race at Mt. Lawn Speedway (IN) along with local divisions.
Further details regarding both of those events, including dates and times for those races, will be announced very soon.
