Amonett Gets First Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Win of 2020 at Mt. Lawn Speedway
Salem, IN (September 8, 2020) – New Castle, Indiana native Ryan Amonett got the hometown win in Sunday night’s Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS event at Mt. Lawn Speedway, located in New Castle. It was the first win of the 2020 season for Amonett, who picked up two series wins in 2019, one of those was also at Mt. Lawn Speedway.
With the win Amonett joins series regular season Champion Jason Atkinson as locked into the four Chase for the Championship drivers who will compete for the series 2020 Championship at the series Season Championship event on Saturday, October 10th of Winchester 400 Weekend. Remaining Chase for the Championship drivers Josh Poore, Andrew Teepe, Brandon Roberts, Chad Pendleton, Alan Williams Jr. and Troy Phillips will all be racing the next two series events to secure the other two positions in the final four drivers to race for the series 2020 Championship.
Amonett came from his sixth place starting position to get the win after he claimed the Allstar Performance Fast Qualifier Award and drew a six for the events inverted start. Amonett passed two time series Champion Atkinson on lap 51 of the 75-lap event to go on and get the win. Amonett picked up the KRJ Race Products Sweet Move of the Race Award for making the wining pass.
Atkinson finished in second behind Amonett. Josh Poore would battle to finish in third place and picked up the AR Bodies Cool Move of the Race Award. Two time series 2020 winner, including the series season points opener at Mt. Lawn Speedway, Colby Lane finished in fourth driving a car owned by long-time Mt. Lawn Speedway competitor Calvin Parham. Teepe finished in fifth place.
Leading series rookie Roberts finished in sixth place. Pendleton finished in seventh place. J.J. Schafer finished in eighth. Kevin Rabenstein finished in ninth in his 2020 series debut. Williams Jr. rounded out the top ten finishers.
