Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks to Crown 2020 Champion Saturday at Winchester Speedway
Van Hoy Oil Puts Up Bonuses for Winchester Event
Salem, IN (October 6, 2020) – The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Powered by JEGS will finish its 16th season of points competition this Saturday on the famous High Banks of Winchester Speedway. Saturday’s 50 lap Season Championship points event will be part of the racing action with the 49th Annual Winchester 400 Presented by JEGS, one of the premier stock car events in the Midwest.
After having several events postponed or canceled because of the COVID 19 pandemic, Saturday will be the ninth event of the 2020 season and the eighth points event for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks, who opened their 2020 season at Lebanon I-44 Speedway on May 30th with a special non-points event that was won by 2017 series Champion Colby Lane. Lane then picked up the series’ first points event win of 2020 at Mt. Lawn Speedway on June 14th. Andrew Teepe got the win at the Indianapolis Speedrome Triple Crown Event on July 11th.
Brett Hudson won the series Triple Crown event at Shadybowl on July 25th and the Triple Crown event at Anderson Speedway on August 15th. Ryan Amonett got the win in the series event at Mount Lawn Speedway on September 6th. Jason Atkinson got the win in the series Fall Brawl event at Lucas Oil Raceway on September 20th. Hudson picked up his series leading third win of the season in the Pinty’s U.S. Short Track Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway on September 26th.
2020 is the fourth season CRA has used the Chase for the Championship format to crown their Champions in four of its series. Eight series drivers were locked into the final four Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Chase for the Championship events.
Atkinson was automatically locked into the final four drivers as the Regular Season Points Champion and with his win in the Lucas Oil Raceway Chase event. Teepe, Josh Poore and leading series Rookie Brandon Roberts locked in to compete for the Championship, by Chase event points. Alan Williams Jr. and Troy Phillips were eliminated from the Chase after the Bristol event. Amonett dropped out of the Chase after the Mt. Lawn event, Pendleton dropped out after the Lucas Oil Raceway event. The driver finishing the highest of the final four Chase drivers in Saturday’s 50 lap Season Championship event will be crowned the 2020 series Champion.
Van Hoy Oil has put up some special cash bonuses for Saturday’s Season Championship event. Van Hoy Oil will award a $100 cash bonus to the driver setting fast time in Group Qualifying. They will award a $100 cash bonus to the driver advancing the most positions in the 50-lap feature and a $50 cash bonus to the driver leading lap 25, the halfway point of the 50-lap feature.
Things begin for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks with the 49th Annual Winchester 400 Presented by JEGS with an optional open practice on Thursday, October 8th. Pits open at 10am, open practice for all Winchester 400 divisions will go from 12noon until 5pm. Thanks to GottaRace.com, Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks teams will only have to pay $100 per car for Thursday’s open practice. Kimmel / Dillner Sports Analysis is putting up a $250 cash bonus to the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks driver with the fastest lap recorded during the open practice on Thursday.
There will also be a practice session on Friday, October 9th for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks at 3pm.
Pits open on Saturday, October 10th at 8am, rotating practice for all divisions will begin at 10am. Second round practice and Group Qualifying for the Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks will begin at 1:30pm. The race program will begin at 4pm on Saturday and will include the 50 lap Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks Season Championship event. Also, racing that night will be the Modifieds in the 50 lap Run for the Gun and the Vore’s Welding CRA Late Model Sportsman in their 50 lap Season Championship event.
