The Van Hoy Oil CRA Street Stocks kick off their Four Crown mini-series Saturday with a 150-lap event at Shadybowl Speedway. CRA’s best drivers are set to take on the local contingent with $3,000 up for grabs.
Former series champion Jason Atkinson enters Saturday’s event already having won in 2021, winning the season opener at Anderson Speedway. He is also the defending CRA Street Stock Four Crown champion.
Josh Poore is a former winner in Four Crown races, but is looking for his first mini-series title. Ryan Amonett and Andrew Teepe have also taken Four Crown races in the past.
The Shadybowl local contingent will be led by defending track champion Rodney Roush. Other drivers like Buck Purtee, Jason Mahaffey and Jason Drummond will also look to keep the trophy in the state of Ohio.
VanHoy Oil CRA Street Stock Series – Entry List
The CRA Street Stock Four Crown began in 2014 as a three-race mini-series and has taken many iterations in its history. Jason Atkinson has won the Four Crown title four times, with those championships coming in 2014, 2015, 2019 and 2020. Brett Hudson, Chuck Barnes Jr and Jacob McElfresh have also claimed titles.
Brett Hudson won last year’s Four Crown race at Shadybowl, which jumpstarted a run that made him the hottest driver in all of Street Stock racing to close out 2020. After his Shadybowl triumph, he then picked up wins in the Four Crown finale at Anderson Speedway, U.S. Short Track Nationals at Bristol Motor Speedway and the Halloween 200 at Salem Speedway.
Two of the remaining three Four Crown races will be held at Anderson Speedway on June 5 and August 14, with another event scheduled for Winchester Speedway on June 5.
Along with the CRA Street Stocks, Saturday night’s event will also include the Vores Compact Touring Series, Crown Vics and Compacts. Speed51 will be on hand taping the event for a future episode of Short Track America.
Stay tuned to Speed51 and the Champion Racing Association for more information regarding Saturday night’s show at Shadybowl Speedway.
