Blackmer Motorsports Team Wins JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Year Award

Salem, IN (November 8, 2021) – Blackmer Motorsports team owner Michael Blackmer came into the 2021 season with rookie driver Andrew Scheid, competing in Scheid’s first full season in a late model race car with the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour Presented by Chevrolet Performance. Scheid’s past experience had mostly been on dirt in sprints cars, so the team knew there would be a learning curve. 

Blackmer Motorsports hired John VanDoorn to lead the team as it’s Crew Chief. The VanDoorn Racing Development co-owner with brother Butch took over running the team prior to the series Season Points opener at Salem Speedway in April. 

The 2021 JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour season started off rough for the Blackmer Motorsports team with a crashed race car on the first lap of the season opening event at Salem Speedway. The team went work and were ready for the team’s second event at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, only to lose an engine on lap 10. 

VanDoorn rallied the team and had them ready for the next event at Anderson Speedway, working through some mechanical issues on the open practice day to have their day end on lap 1 after getting caught up in another competitors accident. 

VanDoorn again rallied the team and they headed to the next series event at Kil-Kare Raceway, were the team qualified ninth out of the 20 cars at the event. Their day ended early with another damaged racecar on lap 31. 

The team sat out the Masters of the Pros event at Nashville Fairgrounds Speedway, to regroup and get prepared for a good run in the series Chase for the Championship. 

Finally, the teams luck tuned around with a fifth-place finish at Birch Run Speedway with no bad luck.

The team then competed in the Battle at Berlin 150, were Scheid would finish over all in third place and second among the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour cars after battling with veteran Brian Campbell and his team earned the series PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Race Award for their hard work preparing a very competitive race car. 

The team then headed to Lucas Oil Raceway for the Fall Brawl event. The team had transmission issues in the first practice session and missed then entire second session replacing the transmission and driveshaft. That did not stop them from having another great run with a fifth-place finish with the team earning their second PitBoxes.com Pit Crew of the Race Award.

In all the team would finish fourth in the series Chase for the Championship and second in the Senneker Performance Rookie of the Year points to Tanner Jack. For their hard work and never give up attitude, the Blackmer Motorsports team has been named the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour 2021 Pitboxes.com Pit Crew of the Year Award winners.

“It’s a huge honor for our team to win this award,” remarked Scheid. “Although the results don’t show how good we were, we unloaded a racecar straight out of the trailer that was towards the top of the speed charts at every track we went to. With all but 1 being tracks I’ve never seen before let alone turned laps on. Mike Blackmer hired John VanDoorn as crew chief to lead this team and make sure our car was fast every race. That was a huge asset to us. Johnny driver coached and spotted for me, as well as worked with my dad and Chris McKinley who worked as car chief, Brad Hastings who was our tire specialist and Ryan Potter who also helped us out. There’s no way we could have done what we did without an amazing team. I can’t thank these guys enough for all the hard work not only at the track, but countless hours at the shop preparing these cars, I’m truly blessed. I would also like to thank PitBoxes.com for supporting this great award.” 

For earning the JEGS/CRA All-Stars Tour 2021 Pitboxes.com Pit Crew of the Year, the Blackmer Motorsports Team will receive a $1,000 Product Certificate from Pitboxes.com.
